Since the news broke of Donald Trump’s whistleblower scandal involving a shady phone call with a foreign government that we’ve since concluded was Ukraine, speculations have swirled surrounding just how deeply vice president Mike Pence was involved in this particular debacle.
The fact of the matter is, despite the rocky relationship between the “president” and VP lately, involving some pretty strenuous “loyalty tests” at Pence’s expense, Mike is Donald’s right-hand man. And considering this entire conspiracy was born of Trump’s desperation to secure the 2020 election from his biggest competition, Joe Biden, it only makes sense that Pence would be more than complicit in the ongoings for the simple fact that if Trump loses next year — so does he.
Up until this point, though, those speculations surrounding his involvement have been just that — speculations.
Publisher and editor for Talking Points Memo, Josh Marshall, has now released the transcripts of a press conference held by VP Pence in Poland earlier this month in which Mike makes it clear, through his own admissions, that not only was he complicit in the president’s schemes, he was a willing participant.
Marshall wrote, “the key thing about this latest and most egregious Trump scandal is that his senior team was clearly in on it, aware of it, participated in it. One key person here is Vice President Mike Pence.”
Below are some of the excerpts on the transcript in question, with Marshall’s words in bold:
Pence stated that he and Ukraine President Zelensky “discussed America’s support for Ukraine and the upcoming decision the President will make on the latest tranche of financial support in great detail.”
It is worth noting here that Trump pulled a staggering $250 million in military aid to Ukraine around this time before immediately releasing it a single day later, as soon as the House caught on and penned a letter in which they stated that they would be opening an investigation into the sudden withholding of funds.
“But as President Trump had me make clear, we have great concerns about issues of corruption.”
Note here that, as far as could be determined by ours and other media outlets, this is the first time that Donald has ever mentioned corruption in a foreign country up until news of this scandal broke.
“I mean, to invest additional taxpayer in Ukraine, the President wants to be assured that those resources are truly making their way to the kind of investments that will contribute to security and stability in Ukraine. And that’s an expectation the American people have and the President has expressed very clearly.”
This is proof positive of Pence admitting to precisely the same thing as Donald and Guiliani admitted to.
Pence would go on just mere seconds later to admit that he told Ukraine’s president, “that I would carry back to President Trump the progress that he and his administration in Ukraine are making on dealing with corruption in their country.”
Marshall concludes his reports, stating, “in the context of what we know was happening and especially the call we know took place a month earlier, these repeated references to progress on corruption and holding up military aid until Zelensky acted could scarcely be more clear.”
The time to impeach is upon us. No more excuses will be accepted. Enough is enough.
