Donald Trump seems to have diverted his warpath from that of “The Squad” (the four Congresswomen of color that he recently attacked on Twitter and in speeches/press conferences, telling them to “go back where they came from”), to House Committee Chair Elijah Cummings — after Cummings was granted permission to subpoena the emails of Trump’s daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Donald kicked things off by attacking Cummings’ city of Baltimore, referring to it as a “disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess.”
Of course, Trump has already been publicly called out by both the Mayor of Baltimore, who called on Trump to actually do something about the conditions of the city in the form of federal funding instead of just running his mouth on social media, as well as a Baltimore pastor who shot down Trump’s invitation for a meeting and instead urged the president to actually visit the city that he suddenly has so many complaints about.
But as usual, the less-than-flattering responses Donald has garnered from his attacks has done absolutely nothing to stanch them.
It was reported this morning that Rep. Elijah Cummings’ home had been broken into and Trump had plenty to say about it — none of which was even remotely kind.
“Really bad news! The Baltimore house of Elijah Cummings was robbed. Too bad!” Donald sarcastically tweeted.
And evidently, this was enough to send Nikki Haley, former Ambassador to the United Nations and governor of South Carolina, who is usually a pretty big defender of the president, over the edge.
In fact, just last week Haley went to bat for Donald in the wake of his attacks against Baltimore, claiming that “the President just offered to help the people of Baltimore.”
Instead of all of this back and forth about who everyone thinks is racist and whose not, the President just offered to help the people of Baltimore. They should take him up on it. Let’s put the same energy into where it will make a difference. 🇺🇸

However, it seems that Donald’s blatant Joy at Cummings’ tragedy was just too much even for Haley, as she responded to his tweet with one of her own, simply stating, “This is so unnecessary.”
This is so unnecessary. 🙄

It’s a bad sign, Donnie boy when even your staunchest supporters are turning their back against you.
