Trump Spends Friday Morning Defending His Speech, Thinks It Was So Good, It Will Make People Want To Join The Military

I don't think it works like that.

Donald Trump is preparing to head out for his Bedminster golf club in New Jersey, no doubt to escape some of the humiliation that’s resulting from his failed Fourth of July shindig yesterday. But of course, he couldn’t take off without first spewing a big line of bullshit to the press about how wonderful his speech was — despite the fact that everyone knows it was a crapshoot of epic proportions.

Donald, of course, blamed his atrocious speech on a failed teleprompter, claiming that the rain made it go on the fritz, but according to him it didn’t matter anyway because he speech was so amazingly fantastic despite the failure that people would be chomping at the bit to join our military.

“I can just tell you those people that you see, there are a lot of people in front of the White House, every one of them loved it,” Trump said, referencing his disastrous speech yesterday. “I would actually say — and I want to sort of give a little appreciation. The media loved it, they loved the evening.”

“We had a lot of rain,” he went on. “I stood in the rain and the teleprompter went out, it kept going on, and then at the end, it just went out. So I could have said — and actually, right in the middle of that sentence it went out, and that’s not a good feeling. when you’re standing in front of millions and millions of people on television and I don’t know what the final count was.”

“I do the speech very well,” Trump said, adding “Despite the rain, it was just a fantastic evening. I think a lot of people — you know, it was really a recruitment situation. a lot of people are going to be joining our Army, Navy, and Air Force.”

Alrighty, Captain Bone Spurs. When will your kids be signing up?
