Yesterday, Sen. John McCain made the courageous decision to discontinue medical treatment after a hard-fought battle with brain cancer. McCain’s family released a statement on behalf of the war hero and respectable politician, which sent America into mourning.
In response to the news, several prominent Republicans sent their thoughts and prayers to McCain and his family, offering their condolences. In fact, much of the country reacted to McCain’s news on Twitter — but there was one person who was uncharacteristically silent about the news all day — President Donald Trump.
It’s not that Trump wasn’t on Twitter yesterday. In fact, he was — he was busy tweeting throughout the day about pretty much everything BUT McCain. There’s no way he didn’t know about it, either. Not only was it all over his favorite social media platform, but he was actually confronted about it by Fox News contributor Stephen Hayes. Hayes reported that Trump had a disgusting response to McCain’s decision and actively chose not to acknowledge it. Hayes reported:
Immediately after those comments, I asked Trump at a press conference if he wanted to apologize to McCain. Trump said: “No, not at all.” When I asked him he was familiar with what happened to McCain during his captivity, Trump said: “It’s irrelevant.”

In fact, according to White House reporter Josh Dawsey, Trump doesn’t plan on even acknowledging the dying Senator:
Trump has told White House aides he does not regret saying McCain is not a war hero. He tells advisers that McCain has a vendetta against him and that he wishes he’d step down. He doesn’t plan to say a laudatory word about the ailing senator. https://t.co/3RWOBSHKdH

There has never been a more gross display of Trump’s character. If this doesn’t prove that Trump is a sociopath, I don’t know what will. He is absolutely incapable of feeling any sort of emotion or decency. America — and McCain — deserves better from our president.
