I’m not sure any person who visited any corner of the internet yesterday could possibly have missed the dagger stare thrown at Donald Trump by teen climate activist Greta Thunberg at the UN Climate Action Summit, but in case you were on the side of a mountain in Kathmandu and your sherpa was hanging onto your cell for you all day, it looked a little something like “DIE THE DEATH OF A BILLION SCREAMS, ASSHOLE”:

Trump himself certainly didn’t miss her speech, which was peppered with the rightful accusation against world leaders that they had nodded and smiled for years and robbed her of a future:
How dare you! You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words. And yet I’m one of the lucky ones. People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!”
Young Ms. Thunberg has Asperger’s, a condition on the autism spectrum that makes her slightly more high-functioning but laser-focused. Her beautiful Swedish smile was wiped away during the speech, replaced with a howl of pain and a grim determination.
Or maybe he did miss her speech. We know he left after just a few minutes at the event, and the tweet he made today mocking her was quoting an account that neatly summarized the part I just quoted above.

If like me, you thought Trump’s campaign should have been over the day he publicly mocked a physically disabled reporter, this makes you furious. I spend a lot of time furious these days, especially when I see these kids begging us to leave them an inhabitable planet.
Thankfully, Greta’s not so easily angered by anything except the torture of the earth by resource-extracting capitalists bent on profit at any cost. She saw Trump’s heartless, soulless, sarcastic attack on her and changed her Twitter bio to reflect it:

Can 16-year-old Swedes run for President here? We elected a horse’s ass, after all, you’d think a smart young girl would be a step up.
