We’re not entirely sure what exactly Donald Trump is holding over Senator Lindsey Graham’s head — though there’s been some speculation that a few sexual kinks may be a great deal of it — but whatever it is, it’s sure working. Because somehow, Graham went from one of Trump’s biggest critics to being the best little lapdog Trump could have ever dreamed of.
Science has proven that dogs will adopt their owner’s behavior. And after some of the shit Lindsey Graham has pulled, we believe it.
Graham made this strikingly clear not too long ago when he put his Trump-esque behaviors on full display during an interview with Fox News’ Chris Wallace — who was so disturbed by the awkward and uncomfortable engagement that he actually pointed it out at the end of it.
Wallace questioned the Senator about replacing liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg with a conservative judge and wondered what the GOP planned to do to prevent future SCOTUS nominations from becoming the “political circus” that was Kavanaugh’s hearing. And Lindsey lost it:
“Here’s what will happen if there’s a vacancy — there will be a lot of pushback from the left. But my Democrat colleagues felt, when they were in charge, we should confirm judges by a majority vote. They changed the rules to accommodate President Obama, they tried to stack the court, they never thought [Hillary Clinton] would lose,” Graham fired back.
“I will urge the president to nominate a qualified conservative. Hopefully, that person will get through and I expect it to be along party lines. And this is what happens when you change the rules. This is come back to bite ’em, I predicted it would and we’ll see.”
“I’m going to be hellbent to replace [with] a conservative whoever steps down for whatever reason.”
Wallace replied to Graham’s Donald-like rant, stating that a conservative replacing RGB would “make the Kavanaugh hearings look like a tea party.” And that just fueled Lindsey’s flame.
“They should have thought of that before they changed the rules. They tried to destroy conservative judges, I voted for [Sonia Sotomayor] and [Elena Kagan] understanding what I was getting. I am dead set on making sure it’s a conservative nominee. Elections have consequences. The rules of the Senate were changed, not by me! By them! And [Republicans] had to [change the rules] on the Supreme Court because they would not give us anybody and Kavanaugh was a fine man. They tried to destroy him,” he spouted off.
Wallace attempted to end the interview on that note, but Graham wasn’t finished. Absolutely fuming, he replied:
“We don’t need one Democrat to replace a liberal justice and the reason that’s the case is because of what [former Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid did.”
The Fox News host wrapped the interview up there with “Always good to speak with you, sir” and was met with a point, awkward pause. Graham, looking like he’d just eaten a lemon, refused to thank Wallace, ripped his mic off, and stormed out without another word.
Wallace did the only thing many of us can do when dealing with a Trump tantrum of similar proportions — giggled in disbelief and said: “I guess you think it was okay to speak with us.”
