While Donald Trump is disrespectfully tweeting his orange a** off as Republican Senator John McCain’s funeral takes place, former presidents stepped in to pay their respects to the American hero in the most brilliant of ways.

Former presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama spoke at McCain’s funeral today, as if Trump didn’t already look bad enough for his continued disrespect of the war hero. Bush went first, taking a dig at Trump as he gave a eulogy to honor McCain, and then Obama took the podium. There were many brilliant points in Obama’s eulogy, but one particular part resonated with everyone in attendance and watching at home. Obama didn’t even have to say Trump’s name, but we all knew who he was talking about. In remembrance of McCain’s values and his dedicated to the truth, Obama said:

He (John McCain) understood that if we get in the habit of bending the truth to suit political expediency, or party orthodoxy, our democracy will not work.”

Trump doesn’t just bend the truth – he completely annihilates it, and he has been doing it all morning on Twitter as McCain’s funeral and services continue. There were many other notable points where Obama gracefully slammed Trump, like when he said this about McCain:

He had an ability to see past differences in search for common ground. [And] for all of our differences. For all of the times we sparked. I never tried to hide … the longstanding admiration I had for him.”

After hearing Obama and Bush speak at McCain’s funeral, it’s safe to say that we all miss having a real president. Trump will never be able to live this down.
