The relationship between Donald Trump and the now World Cup winning US Women’s soccer team has been a strained one at best. It all began when the team’s captain Megan Rapinoe made it very clear that she would not be going to the “fucking White House” should her team nab the victory, though she doubted they’d receive an invitation either way. Of course, Donald had to go out of his way to send out a little passive-aggressive tweet that attacked Rapinoe but simultaneously issued a half-ass offer to visit the White House should they win.
Since then, Rapinoe’s team has claimed their fourth World Cup victory, and Trump doesn’t seem to be too thrilled — sending out a late, pouty congratulations on Twitter with no mention of the team’s invitation to the White House. However, the girls need not worry. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has now joined forces with the likes of Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Kathy Castor, and Darin LaHood to invite the winning team to the US Capitol — ultimately issuing a big, fat collective “fuck you” to Donald Trump.

Rapinoe has already accepted the invitation from Rep. Ocasio-Cortez even before their win and has stood by her comments about a White House visit “with the exception of the expletive — my mom will be very upset about that.”
When questioned about inviting the team now that they’ve won the World Cup, Donald claimed “We haven’t really thought about it. We’ll look at that.” — meaning he is currently trying to figure out how he’s going to get out of actually inviting them so he’s not brutally humiliated when yet another major sports team turns him down.
Now we just wait patiently for another all-out Twitter tantrum against the House Speaker because somebody likes her better.
