The majority of America is disgusted by Donald Trump’s inhumane policies. Trump has proven to be cruel and insensitive, but even the most pessimistic anti-Trump Americans were stunned when his administration ripped children from their families at the border, and have continued to leave numerous families still separated.
Even churches are frustrated and upset about what Trump has done, and one church set out to send the president a strong message about how horrendous this immigration fiasco is. The United Methodist Board of Church and Society decided to troll the president in the most epic way recently, leaving a brutal sign outside their DC headquarters.
The social justice branch of the United Methodist Church is located near the Capitol, and they had the clever idea to change up a Bible verse to make it apply directly to Trump’s separation of migrant children from their parents at the border. In a reference to Matthew 25:35, the sign says “I was a stranger and you ripped my child from me. Wait a second…”

The real verse says, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me” but the altered version is just perfect for Trump and his administration.
Members of this church have criticized Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy before. Rev. Susan Henry-Crowe spoke out against Attorney General Jeff Sessions when he announced the policy:
The Christ we follow would have no part in ripping children from their mothers’ arms or shunning those fleeing violence. It is unimaginable that faith leaders even have to say that these policies are antithetical to the teachings of Christ.”
It’s a sad day when the church has to intervene in an administration’s wrongdoings. Unfortunately, we need all the help we can get.
