Baltimore Sun Calls Trump “A Jerk, A Clod, A Dolt, A Schmuck” After He Joked About Homicide Rate

They didn't find his joke funny.

Donald Trump spent his recent 2020 reelection rally in Cincinnati, Ohio doing what he does best — talking shit.

But this time he seems to have moved on from his racist attacks against “The Squad” (after inciting chants of “send her back” at one of his last rallies) to attacks against the city of Baltimore for essentially no other reason than the fact that House Committee Chair Elijah Cummings hails from there and Cummings was recently granted permission to subpoena the emails of Trump’s daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Speaking at his rally Thursday night, Trump attempted to draw a mocking comparison between the homicide rates in Baltimore to that of El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala before urging the crowd to give their own examples.

“I believe it’s higher than– Give me a place that you think is pretty bad,” Donald quipped, provoking his base. “This guy says Afghanistan. I believe it’s higher than Afghanistan. In our country, think of that.”

To say the least, the city of Baltimore didn’t take very kindly to Trump’s “joke” and the Baltimore Sun was quick to strike back.

“This is the behavior of a jerk, a clod, a dolt, a schmuck,” the Sun’s editorial read.

“This is someone who argues both sides, none of it sincerely, none of it truthfully,” the newspaper’s editorial board wrote of the president. “One moment it’s a lack of federal spending, the next moment he says all that is wasted. Or maybe it’s up to Elijah Cummings, one of 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, to save Baltimore. What, with a resolution on the House floor? President Trump doesn’t mean a word of it. He’s just lashing out. It’s all a performance. It’s all a show.”

This isn’t the Sun’s first response to Donald’s attacks against their city, either. And we’re sure it won’t be the last if Trump keeps it up. Back when Donald launched his first attack against the city, claiming that “no human being would want to live” in Baltimore, the newspaper clapped back perfectly, responding, “Better to have some vermin living in your neighborhood than to be one.”

Keep lobbing those attacks, Donnie. They’ll keep smacking them down.
