Earlier today, Hillary Clinton (along with former President Barack Obama, CNN, and others) experienced a bomb scare at their homes and places of business. Donald Trump, the President of the United States, responded to this threat in the most passive, cowardly way imaginable, but Clinton was ready to stand up and send a clear message like the true leader she is.
At a campaign rally in Miama, Clinton addressed the bomb that was sent to her Westchester County home by condemning “a time of deep devisions” in this country and blaming Trump and his divisive political agenda for creating such “a troubling time” in America. Clinton said:
It is a troubling time, isn’t it? And it’s a time of deep divisions, and we have to do everything we can to bring our country together.”
She expertly used the incident to show Americans how important it was to elect officials who could unite the country instead of divide it:
We have to elect candidates who … will set goals that will lift up every Floridian and American, who will look into the future. What are the challenges we have to meet today so that our children and our grandchildren have the quality of life and the opportunities to give hope to the nation.”
Clinton also thanked the Secret Service for responding to the bomb and preventing it from getting to her home. She said:
We are fine, thanks to the men and women of the Secret Service who intercepted the package addressed to us long before it made its way to our home. Every day we are grateful for their service and commitment and obviously never more than today.”
