Donald Trump’s ridiculous government shutdown is earning the president tons of backlash, and now everything he does is being met with the most brutal opposition.
Earlier today, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that Trump would be visiting the U.S-Mexico border on Thursday to address the “crisis” (which he completely made up). He’s not going to visit migrants that are being detained or the families that were ripped apart by his own policy. It’s a complete publicity stunt, but Sanders tried to disguise it by saying Trump would “meet with those on the frontlines of the national security and humanitarian crisis.”
President @realDonaldTrump will travel to the Southern border on Thursday to meet with those on the frontlines of the national security and humanitarian crisis. More details will be announced soon.

It should be noted that those people on the “frontlines” are actually Border Patrol Agents, and they have also been affected and stripped of pay during Trump’s government shutdown.
Anyway, it didn’t take long for people on Twitter to rip the president apart for his response to a “crisis” and for making a publicity stunt out of this. Many even brought up Trump’s previous failures, such as his response to Puerto Rico.
Is he going to throw out paper towels? https://t.co/oD085YPGA5

There were pretty much an endless supply of Trump bashing:

Pretty much guarantees no resolution of the shutdown before Friday at the earliest since a reopening of the gov’t before then would remove the political purpose of Trump’s trip. https://t.co/loLPYMtKWr

This is, plain and simple, a propaganda tour intended to drum up fear and demonize communities. https://t.co/rO6BciCt3O

Reality: he’s going to spread lies, meet with border agents / officials sympathetic to his anti-immigrant cause, and will ignore the kids he has locked up in Tornillo. https://t.co/Y52eL4ee10

aka trump, who continues to lose on the issue, does the only thing he knows to do: a media stunt. https://t.co/4CqjvJaRlk

You manufactured the national security crisis and it caused an actual humanitarian crisis. https://t.co/unyZkVqrmL

How many families that he ripped apart will he be meeting with? https://t.co/PtPkVGbt1A

Trump fully deserves this, and he should just cancel this trip right now.
