Things in Donald Trump’s White House are looking more bleak than ever. While the West Wing still has not recovered from or filled many of its vacant positions, it seems that the president is going into a downward spiral and is isolating himself more than ever before. Things have gotten so dark and grim that even his remaining staff members are concerned and creeped out by what’s happening behind closed doors.
Trump’s deteriorating state was brought up by Washington Post White House correspondent Robert Costa. In an appearance on Morning Joe this morning, Costa mentioned that some remaining staff members were actually planning on taking their leave, which would only result in the West Wing becoming even more empty. Costa rattled off some surprising names:
Inside the White House it’s pretty sparse. You have Kellyanne Conway. You have John Kelly — who’s been pretty beleaguered. Not really a political Chief of Staff, also looking perhaps for the exit based on our reporting. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has made it clear she may not stay forever in this term.”
Costa then revealed some insider information about what the increased isolation has been doing to Trump, signaling that the president is becoming even more unhinged as he relies on his extremely problematic “instincts.” Costa said:
The way it’s described to me by a lot of Trump sources is that the president is isolated. That he has these aides and advisors he counts on. But he’s really watching television and relying on his own gut instincts. And that’s caused some alarm inside the president’s circle as he becomes more besieged by political and legal problems. That he relies more on the fiery types around him and his own gut instincts rather than bringing in established Republicans.”

We can’t think of anything more disturbing than Trump being left to his own devices, or more infuriating than the president wasting taxpayer dollars while he watches television all day.
