Ivanka Trump’s bad week just got a whole lot worse — thanks to her own father! Earlier this week, Trump’s favorite daughter made headlines for the announced shutdown of her namesake fashion brand, which she insisted was because she needed to focus on her work as her father’s advisor (even though the company has been having serious issues for years).
Today, the President of the United States poured salt in the wounds of his own daughter, just two days after the closing of her company had been announced. During a roundtable in Iowa, Ivanka proudly touted the Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, a new bill that she had been working on that creates incentives for career technical schools to advance skills in STEM, technology, science, engineering, and mathematics. This was an important moment for Ivanka, and her father’s response was quite shocking. In front of a room full of people, Trump joked:
Maybe I’ll veto it.”
Well aware that cameras were rolling, Ivanka played along even though she was humiliated. It seemed all fun and games at first, in the GIF below:

However, just moments after she exchanged jabs with her father, it was obvious that Ivanka was visibly upset. A photographer caught her facial expression after Trump went on with his meeting, and this picture says a thousand words:

It seems that regardless of whether Donald Trump is your president or your father, the relationship is abusive. Trump’s jokes have always been inappropriate and insensitive, but this is just heartless.
