Donald Trump is now in the worst place be could possibly be — on billionaire Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’ sh*t list.
Yesterday, Bezos sounded that alarm that he was being extorted by the National Enquirer and parent publisher AMI, which is well known to be a paper politically motivated by its friendship with Trump. AMI had threatened Bezos, stating that racy photos of him would be revealed if the Amazon CEO and owner of the Washington Post didn’t make a false statement that he had “no knowledge or basis for suggesting that AMI’s coverage was politically motivated or influenced by political forces.”
Now, someone is making the case that Trump was “directly involved” in this, which won’t surprise anyone. Scott Galloway, a professor of marketing at NYU Stern School of Business and an Amazon expert, went on MSNBC earlier today and explained to host Stephanie Ruhle why he thought the president was responsible. Galloway stated it was because Trump “never misses [the] opportunity to mock enemies… Also, he is petty, immature, and [a] terrible role model for youth.” He said:
A key tell among law enforcement officials is when someone is driving 45 miles an hour in the fast lane, that they’re hiding something. The president’s silence on this is eerie.”
And Galloway kept the long list of reasons coming, making a solid case that Trump’s behavior lines up with someone who was plotting to damage Bezo’s reputation:
He tweeted about Bezos, calling him ‘Bozo’ January 4th — but this is someone who never misses an opportunity to mock someone he perceives as an adversary via Twitter and he hasn’t said anything and I think that’s — that’s a tell here.
And like with a Facebook hack or any scandal involving the president, the only thing we know for sure is that it’s almost worse or always worse than we originally thought. I think this is going to be one of the biggest stories of 2019 and there are several cards still to be turned over here.
Put another way: The president and [American Media Inc.] are both acting like guilty parties right now.”
No one would be shocked if Trump was behind this, and if he’s found to be guilty this will make the case for his removal from office even stronger. You can watch Galloway’s interview below:
