Donald Trump is literally ruining all chances for the Republican Party to win in November’s midterm elections right before our eyes. There are no words for the damage he has already caused the party, and what he continues to do will surely make the GOP wish they’d had enough spine to get rid of him a long time ago – especially after what happened tonight.
As the GOP is trying its best to do damage control and save face, Trump is more unhinged than ever. While at his Ohio campaign rally, it barely took Trump ten minutes to completely derail during his own speech to go on a very racist rant that would fill any white supremacist with pride and joy. During the rally, Trump decided that it was a good idea to praise racist icon Confederate Robert E. Lee.
Let’s not forget that this is happening the day after Trump had a White House presser with rapper Kanye West, where West repeatedly spoke about racism and how Trump was helping African Americans. During the rally, Trump nearly worshipped Lee, stating that he was “great.” Trump said:
Robert E. Lee was a great general. And Abraham Lincoln developed a phobia. He couldn’t beat Robert E. Lee. He was going crazy.”
You can watch this incredibly disturbing and mind boggling footage below:

It’s hard to say if West will defend Trump after seeing this, but one thing is for sure – Trump is trying to play Americans for fools and is clearly using West’s influence and misguided involvement in his presidency to cover up the blatant racism that his presidency is ripe with. This is so insulting to our country’s progress, and should invigorate Democratic voters to put an end to this in the midterms.
UPDATE: Earlier reports stated that Trump had said Lee was “incredible”, and NBC has issues a correction stating its mistake.
Thank you to NBC for the correction! https://t.co/L2mX3vREOl
