Try as we might, we can’t seem to keep ourselves from laughing in the newsroom this morning as we read about what the Trump campaign is claiming — AGAIN — attendance at the President’s rally that’s a higher number than can even attend. Trump’s campaign manager, Brad Parscale, tweeted about attendance as the rally was underway:
Another historic turnout in Greenville North Carolina! Capacity record inside and overflow is huge! Over 20,000 here to see @realDonaldTrump
He just keeps setting records. Bigly! pic.twitter.com/PL97Ii2B2N

Social media users began looking into the claim, which was certainly not out of the ordinary for the Trump campaign or even the President himself, who regularly claims things are the biggest, most, highest, best, loudest, fastest, most superlative they have ever been. That’s when the story began to unravel:
capacity is 8,000 and that place isn’t even full dude

You know we can look up the capacity of the arena, right? Is it a prerequisite to be a bold-faced liar or do they have a webinar on day one?

That’s so cool! And since we’re all making shit up anyway, I have a 36 inch penis.

Having tweeted the original claim on Wednesday evening during the rally, Parscale took abuse all night and well into Thursday, when he attempted to clarify his bogus claim with a followup tweet that was just as ridiculous as the first:
Hey trolls. This includes thousands inside including the floor, thousands outside, thousands at the airport and lining the streets. A @realDonaldTrump rally includes much more than just inside a venue. There are multiple events and places to see him! Thank you North Carolina! pic.twitter.com/RVdaNb4iCX

Wait. We’re including the AIRPORT? The Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport has one runway and half of its square footage is taken up by a massive FedEx facility. He HAS to be talking about all those people outside and lining the streets, right? A whole extra 12,000 of them, right?
This photo of 12,000 additional people sure is sparse on the edges.

We couldn’t agree more, Jen.
