No matter how much Donald Trump lies, he can’t hide the fact that his behavior is one of a man who is very, very guilty. The latest development of how Trump is acting out in Robert Mueller’s investigation only proves this further.
Trump had an interview with the Special Counsel scheduled for January, but the president backed out after learning about the questions investigators wanted to ask him. The Associated Press reported, “The date had been picked, the location too, and the plan was penciled in: President Donald Trump would be whisked from the White House to Camp David on a quiet winter Saturday to answer questions from special counsel Robert Mueller’s team.”
But as the Jan. 27, 2018, date neared and Mueller provided the topics he wanted to discuss, Trump’s lawyers balked. Attorney John Dowd then fired off a searing letter disputing Mueller’s authority to question the president. The interview was off.
Nearly a year later, Trump has still not spoken directly to Mueller’s team — and may never. Through private letters, tense meetings and considerable public posturing, the president’s lawyers have engaged in a tangled, tortured back-and-forth with the special counsel to prevent the president from sitting down for a face-to-face with enormous political and legal consequences.”
The Associated Press also reported that Trump was scared of a one-on-one, in person interview because Mueller intended to ask him if he had “corrupt intent” when he fired former FBI director James Comey. Trump’s team obviously covered for the president and has responded that “the question was ridiculous and the answer was obviously no.”
However, if Trump is innocent why can’t he just sit down for the interview like a normal person who has nothing to hide? Trump continues to behave like a guilty man, and that’s because he is.
