This should make Trump nervous.

Yet another bombshell has blown up in Donald Trump’s face: The president’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, has just been exposed for lying to Special Counsel Robert Mueller, breaching his plea agreement with the Justice Department.

Just two months after he started cooperating with the Special Counsel’s Russia probe, Manafort started to lie again — a true character flaw of every person who comes in direct contact with Trump and works closely with the disgraced President of the United States.

A court filing on Monday revealed that not only had Manafort breached his plea agreement but that even after he’d been caught, he continued to go against Mueller’s assertion that he’d lied to investigators. Prosecutors released a three-page filing that stated how Manafort had lied on “on a variety of subject matters,” and violated his plea agreement. Manafort, of course, disagreed. The filing said:

He believes he has provided truthful information and does not agree with the government’s characterization or that he has breached the agreement.”

In the document, Mueller asserted that after Trump’s former right-hand man had breached his plea agreement because after signing, “Manafort committed federal crimes by lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Counsel’s Office on a variety of subject matters.” In the end, Mueller and Manafort’s attorneys decided to set a date for Manafort’s sentencing, coming to the agreement that there was no reason to continue delaying the inevitable.

Former federal prosecutor David Weinstein weighed in on the former campaign chairman’s behavior and stated that Manafort’s inability to honor his plea deal raises eyebrows because he may have been trying to protect people in Trump’s inner circle and continue to suck up to the president himself. Weinstein said:

It seems to me he’s angling for the pardon.”

Mueller can see right through Trump and his team — and it’s only a matter of time before it’s the president’s turn.
