Republicans Don’t Seem To Have Issue With Melania’s Parents Using Air Force One Despite Challenging Obama For Same Thing

Let's play a game of 'Imagine If Obama Had Done That.'

Hypocrisy, thy name is spelled G-O-P.

In a time long passed, back in the age of tan suits and dijon mustard, the smallest slights by Barack Obama, no matter how esoteric or procedural, was cause for Republicans to fire up the klaxon alarms and grind business in Washington to a halt until they got the bottom of, say, one crouton too many on the President’s salad.

Now, don’t tell anyone, but that’s because the GOP is a racist institution and, I don’t know if you noticed, but Barack Obama was black. I know, you’d never tell it from the name, but I swear he was, and those crazy Republicans could NOT get over it. Some people, before they became Trump’s national spokesperson in 2016, even referred to Obama in less than politically correct terms:

Eight years of GOP poutrage over Obama’s perceived crimes against the presidency, however, hit a brick wall when the current occupant of the Oval Office started doing so much unethical shit that it spawned an entire genre of comparisons: “What would Republicans have done if Obama had done that?” For example, what would Republicans have done if Obama had fist-pumped his way into a memorial service for 9/11 victims? What would Republicans have done if Obama had warned the opposition party that he was going to have the military, the police, and biker gangs “get tough” on them?

I mean, we know: Their heads would have exploded.

Kind of the way their heads exploded when Obama’s mother in law, Marian Robinson — the First Lady’s mother — stayed in the White House with her daughter and son in law, often helping to take care of her granddaughters Sasha and Malia. “It costs TAXPAYER MONEY for her to live there,” they cried, and when she would fly with the Obamas on Air Force One, it was as though the President had asked the pilots to take on an extra two metric tons of cargo, probably all in smoked salt caramels from Fran’s Chocolates in Godless Seattleâ„¢.

I wonder, then, why Republicans are less than forthcoming with their identical indignation when Melania’s parents Amalija and Viktor Knavs travel with the Trumps.

Probably because, as a White House spokeswoman told Politico last year in an email in response to their report that the Knavs couple would become more familiar figures around the White House, “We don’t comment on the first lady’s parents, as they are private citizens and we want to respect that.”

Oh, THAT’s what you want to respect. That’s cool, I guess.
