In the bizarre political age of “everyone just kind of ignores the horrible, offensive things the President does,” it’s hard to get a gauge of what the most offensive things he does are. I personally think his entire campaign for the office should have been derailed at the point when he did a mocking impression of a disabled reporter’s physical handicap, but we breezed through that, hundreds of retweets of white supremacists, embarrassing the Queen of England, brags about the size of his penis on social media, and now the dissemination of conspiracy theories about a political opponent having someone killed.
But all of that? That’s just the public stuff. That’s just the stuff that he thought it would be okay for other people to see. When you put it in that perspective, one shudders to think what he might be doing behind closed doors. We got a tiny taste of that with the now-infamous Access Hollywood tape, when he didn’t know he was being recorded, but if Trump isn’t just operating under the assumption that he’s being recorded all the time now, he’s even dumber than his fans.
At the fundraisers Trump held in the Hamptons over the weekend, it turns out that whether or not he understands someone is always taking down everything he says and does, he’s still kind of a piece of shit. That’s the technical term for a man who, when recalling conversations with the leaders of South Korea and Japan, actually mimics their accents when he gets to the things they said.
One wonders if he put a finger to the corner of each eye and pushed upwards while doing so.
Of course, when North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un came up at the soireé, Trump had nothing but good things to say:
I just got a beautiful letter from him this week. We are friends. People say he only smiles when he sees me.”
