Donald Trump’s team just continues to get more vile and become more like him. Now it seems like his other half, Vice President Mike Pence, has been spending way too much time with his boss and has taken on some of The Donald’s disgusting characteristics.

At a campaign rally for Georgia Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp this week, Pence made a pathetic attempt to act somewhat charismatic — and it couldn’t have gone worse. While Trump is without a doubt a terrible person, he has a somewhat efficient way of connecting to his racist supporters through fear mongering, making offensive jokes, and using his ego to put them into a trance. Let’s just say that Mike Pence does not have this power.

Pence took the stage, and it pretty much went downhill from the second he walked up to the microphone. First, he tried to make a joke about Kemp’s Democratic competitor, Stacey Adams, and noted that Oprah Winfrey and Will Ferrell had come to help her. He said:

Loading...

Stacey Abrams is being bankrolled by Hollywood liberals, sending their support into the state. Like I heard Oprah’s in town today.”

This was awkward to begin with, but the VP obviously felt encouraged by the booing that came from the racist crowd after he mentioned Oprah’s name. Then Pence said this:

I heard Will Ferrell was going door to door the other day. Well, I’d like to remind Stacey and Oprah and Will Ferrell, I’m kind of a big deal too.”

It was almost as if Pence was trying to convince himself just as much as the crowd. This was such a strange moment, MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle couldn’t help but make this comment as she watched the end of the clip:

Except he’s not that funny.”

Exactly. You can watch Pence’s horrible performance below:
