First Lady Melania Trump cannot catch a break. Not only has she had to endure several of Trump’s sex scandals and a very public, humiliating description of her husband’s gross genitals thanks to Stormy Daniels’ tell-all book, but her husband’s past has just come back to haunt her in another way.
Trump’s second ex-wife, Marla Maples, is now trying to profit off Trump’s presidency by selling some of the former couple’s old household items. It’s a strange tactic for sure, considering how unpopular Trump is to most of the country, but perhaps Maples is hoping that one of Trump’s gullible, crazed fans will be dumb enough to shell out $6,000 for a pair of their candlesticks.
California-based auctioning company Nate D. Sanders Auctions is selling the candlestick set, leaving potential buyers a mere eight days to place their bid online. Currently, there are zero bids — which signifies that perhaps not even Trump’s own fans want to be reminded of him right now.
The description on the auction website says:
Donald Trump personally owned set of candlesticks, featuring hand-carved gilt angels. Each holder measures 18” tall by approximately 6.25” wide and deep. Wax remnants at top from use, overall near fine condition.”
The site also notes that the candlesticks come with an unsigned letter from Maples on her personal letterhead, which says:
This set was owned and displayed on the dinner table in the home of Mr. Donald Trump and Mrs. Marla Maples Trump in Trump Tower, New York City, during their marriage.”
If this is Maples’ way of cashing in, she’s going to have to lower the price because Trump isn’t exactly a respected or beloved POTUS. We bet that if these candlesticks had belonged for former president Barack Obama, there would be no trouble selling them. Unfortunately, Trump cheapens everything.
