If you’ve been anywhere near Twitter (or the news in general), you’ve undoubtedly noticed that the president has only gotten more insane with his awful tweeting habit. After Michael Cohen’s testimony and some extremely unflattering media coverage, the president has been throwing a fit on social media, and it’s clear that we’re watching the president unravel in real time.
This is embarrassing to anyone working in the White House, of course — but what about Trump’s family? Aren’t they ashamed to see him decline like this? Of course they are! Judging by a recent statement put out by Melania Trump, FLOTUS knows he’s disgracing her family and making her look bad — which is exactly why she tried to distance herself from him today.
In an interview with CNN today, Melania Trump’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham made a statement on behalf of Melania, making it perfectly clear that FLOTUS’ “Be Best” anti-cyberbullying initiative had nothing to do with her husband’s online behavior. As the First Lady is about to go on a three-state tour, it was more important than ever that she distanced herself from the president. Grisham said:
I think that honestly one thing really doesn’t have anything to do with the other. She has said many times that her husband is an adult, he’s the president of the United States and he knows what he’s doing and she’s focused on ‘Be Best,’ she’s focused on helping children. Children are the ones who are impressionable right now, and so she’s going to go out there and do the best she can to help them succeed.”
Melania has also put out her own statement about her tour, which she said on Thursday:
Whether it is social media and technology or drug and alcohol abuse, children in our country and around the world are faced with many challenges.”
Melania is trying to run away from her husband’s disgraced legacy, just stopping short of publicly condemning it. We can only hope that one of these informed kids asks her about her husband’s behavior during her tour — I’d love to see her response.
