If Republicans thought they had midterms in the bag a day before the election, they were just proven very wrong. In a move that couldn’t have come at a worse time for the struggling GOP, a major conservative newspaper has just trashed Trump and stated that he is “going to hell.”
On Monday morning, right-wing newspaper Washington Examiner (owned by billionaire Christian conservative Philip Anschutz) sent out a startling message from its official Twitter account. The tweet, which also insulted the paper, said:
Trump is going to hell. Anyone who ever read the bible can tell you where it stands on rich adulterers. The key to God’s forgiveness is repentance. Trump’s entire political career has been about the exact opposite of that. Also, this paper is garbage for promoting ‘Trump and God.’”
Let’s just say people were stunned by this unexpected fit of clarity from the Washington Examiner:

If you had told me last night that The Washington Examiner would be making headlines today I would have said “for what, telling the truth?”

As expected, the newspaper later got rid of the tweet and stated that the account was “hacked” — which was mocked just as much as the tweet:
“Our feed was hacked. We would never say anything reflecting this level of moral clarity.”

Whether the account was hacked or just taken over by a disgruntled employee, we may never know — but one thing is for sure. Trump and the GOP did NOT need this today and this could actually impact voter turnout if religious conservatives take time to think critically of what the “accidental” tweet said about how the bible talks about “rich adulterers” and Trump’s unethical career.
