This is not something Trump ever thought would see the light of day.

Ousted former White House adviser Omarosa Manigault-Newman can’t seem to stay out of the news, and we here at DC Tribune have written about her so much that we can’t help but feel she likes it that way. But her taste for the limelight notwithstanding, she does have a pretty interesting story to tell.

Many of her claims can’t yet be verified, although Donald Trump rather tellingly has not officially denied a lot of what she’s said about her time in the White House. But today, Omarosa dropped a bombshell that requires no independent verification — because it’s all in black and white, and it’s a legal document.

Today on Meet the Press, Omarosa revealed the details of the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) that she was required to sign in order to work on the Trump campaign, which host Chuck Todd displayed on the screen as they spoke. It included provisions that she never talks badly about:

[…]the Campaign, Mr. Trump, Mr. Pence, any Trump or Pence Company, any Trump or Pence Family Member, or any Trump or Pence Family Member Company.”

Whew! That’s a mouthful. It goes on, as you’ll see in the video below, to list other prohibited speech as well as the term length of the agreement: Forever.

That’s become known as a standard when dealing with Donald Trump, of course, but in the case of his former campaign employees and even former White House staff, it’s become clear that Trump can’t enforce an NDA after the termination of employment because it’s a violation of the First Amendment. So what has Trump done?

Omarosa says that she received an email, at first attributed to Lara Trump, wife of Donald’s son Eric, then correctly attributed to “the campaign,” offering her a $15,000 payoff for her silence. Chuck Todd indicated in the interview that he had read that offer, and wondered if Omarosa had actually thought the campaign was offering her a job, or whether she thought they just wanted her to sign.

They were not offering a real job. They told me I could work from home, if I even wanted to work. They didn’t really care if I showed up.”

Then Chuck asked the biggest question of the day — “You believe that all the people … that left the West Wing and the campaign are being bought off?”

Absolutely … Which is why Sean Spicer was describing Donald Trump as a unicorn jumping over rainbows, because he signed this same agreement.”
