There’s almost nothing Donald Trump hates more than having his own name tarnished, like we saw in the unforgettable smashing of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, or his white-hot meltdown after his name came down off hotels around the world who no longer wanted to be associated with him.
I say “almost” because there IS one thing he hates more than that, and that is when other people are honored and he’s not — especially if they’re people he hates. So when he hears the news about the latest honor being given to his predecessor Barack Obama, he’s liable to rant on Twitter for days, or wait, even louder… Well, Trump is going to rant on Twitter regardless, but this is going to make him really, really mad.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced late last night that the LA city council had voted to change the name of Rodeo Road to Obama Boulevard.
It’s official: our City Council has voted to rename Rodeo Road to Obama Boulevard!
We’re thrilled that Angelenos and visitors will forever be reminded of the legacy of President @BarackObama when traveling across L.A. pic.twitter.com/gnVNgBgndn

That’s not, of course, Rodeo Drive, the posh, meandering byway through Beverly Hills — that would just be weird, I think we can all agree. Instead, it follows a pattern of things named after our 44th (and recently named most popular in recent memory) President of being something that everyday people can connect with. The residential road joins a dozen other streets, 18 schools, 12 animals, and at least one fungus-type organism that are named for Obama around the country and the world.
Young, handsome, and importantly, friends with Barack Obama, Mayor Garcetti has been considered by some to be in contention for the 2020 Democratic nomination to run against Donald Trump.
That is, unless Trump’s name is taken off even the presidency by then.
