Trump has just arrived in Baltimore for the House Republican Conference Member Retreat, which isn’t unusual, as the event has been held there for quite some time now. However, this instance is a little different as it’s the first time that Donnie will set foot in the city since he referred to it as a “rat and rodent-infested mess” where “no human being would want to live” as part of a feud with Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings who hails from Baltimore and has been diligently working to take down Trump and his family.
If Trump departed for the city under the impression that Baltimore residents have forgiven and forgotten by now — well, he’s sadly disappointed right about now as it seems that Baltimoreans found his visit to be the perfect opportunity to get even.
Residents of Baltimore truly pulled out all the stops in protest of the hateful, immature president.
Multiple protests took place throughout the entire day — including one from the Baltimore Welcoming Committee as well as the People’s Power Assembly with one member of the group, Sharon Black, stating, “We’re basically protesting all of his policies from racism, white supremacy, from the climate crisis to war. A multitude of things that people are very angry about.”
Another protester, Renee Washington, said, “I’m here to say to him, ‘When you talk about rats, look in your own backyard.’ Baltimore City is not filled with rats. We are people who care about our city and feel that strong about it. What are you doing about it?”
But that’s not even the best part of it all.
In the city of Baltimore, you will find President Street. And if you were to have visited President Street today, you would have quickly run into a giant inflatable Trump rat as well as a new sign under the original street sign that reads, “Barack Obama Avenue.”
The inflatable rat that bore a striking resemblance to our rat of a president was donned in a suit, a red tie, and some bright red lipstick and featured a sticker on the bottom that reads “Fight Fascism, Stop Trump.”
I think it’s safe to say that Baltimore residents certainly are not over it when it comes to Trump’s attacks against their home. And they are making damn sure he knows it.
