Ever since lawyer and human rights activist Michael Avenatti made the bold prediction that Donald Trump Junior would be indicted before December 31 of this year, every new piece of information about the President’s son has only resurrected the theories — and in some cases upped the Vegas-style odds of prison for the self-important eldest child of Trump.
Everyone wants to know when Don Junior is going to be indicted since he is so clearly next in line for it, and even he has told friends that he expects it to come soon. He hasn’t admitted wrongdoing, but after realizing that lying to Congress is a federal crime, Junior sees the writing on the wall.
When he first described his meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya in his dad’s Manhattan tower, he portrayed it to Congressional investigators as a discussion about Russian adoption. Later, he admitted that he’d hoped to trade information with the Russians for dirt on his father’s opponent, Hillary Clinton.
But a life-long neighbor of the building where Trump Jr tried to bargain with Russian spies for the placement of a new Trump Tower in Moscow knows all the same people he knows — she’s a real estate agent when she’s not busy as an activist blogger — caught Junior just as much unaware as he was that he couldn’t just lie with impunity to the government.
It was at a holiday soirée where Junior was in attendance, and Eve Gittelson, who has written extensively for Huffington Post and DailyKos, caught Prince Donald on camera, cornering him with a question that I think everyone can agree will get you right in the gut:
Let me ask you something: Do you think you’re going to be indicted before Christmas or after Christmas?”
Junior just smiled that empty, get-me-out-of-here smile that his father is so practiced at giving. You can almost see him break out in a sweat as he shoulders his way closer to the bar, presumably to drink away the pain of being on the razor’s edge of the Mueller investigation.

This is the kind of reaction you can only get when you get someone by surprise, and Donnie didn’t disappoint.
