Trump is set to head out to London soon for a state visit with the royal family. His first visit certainly didn’t go well — he regularly walked in front of the Queen and was met by 200,000-plus protesters in the streets of London, complete with a “Baby Trump” blimp. We don’t expect this one to go much better, considering Trump has recently been busted for the things he said about Princess Diana shortly after her untimely demise, and the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle has already made it clear that she won’t be meeting with the US president during his stay.
But after an exclusive Oval Office interview with the Sun before his departure today, we have a feeling none of the royal family will be meeting Trump with smiling faces considering he called Markle “nasty.”
During the sit-down, Trump was questioned about the comments the Duchess made during the 2016 presidential election, in which she referred to the then-presidential candidate as “misogynistic” and “divisive” and pledged to vote for his opponent, Hilary Clinton.
Trump responded, “I didn’t know that. What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty.”
Evidently, Trump was also unaware of the fact that Markle would be sitting out on any visits with him and his family, officially citing maternity leave with her 3-week-old-son as her reason.
“I didn’t know that. I hope she is OK,” Trump said.
Trump also took the opportunity during the interview to claim that he’s actually well-liked in the UK, despite the fact that protesters actually spent hard-earned money to humiliate him with the infamous Trump baby blimp and they are gearing up to do so yet again, even bigger and better than before.
“Now I think I am really — I hope — I am really loved in the UK,” Trump claimed.
Despite what he thinks, or at least tried to claim, there’s very little love for Donald Trump on the other side of the pond. We’re just hoping the balloon is twice the size this year after he spoke so nasty of their new Duchess.
