Trump’s Fantasies Of Being A Dictator Revealed: “I Want My People” To “Sit Up At Attention” The Way North Koreans Do

There is nothing okay about this.

I don’t know if it’s the news of the self-centered parade that he’s supplanting the July 4th celebration in the nation’s capital with, or his increasingly militaristic answers for everything lately, or whether his term isn’t even over and I’m already having flashbacks, but after seeing his petrifying tweet the other day showing him in front of campaign signs showing his name and election years in perpetuity, I can’t help but think Trump wants to be President for life.

Yeah, he’s already praised Chinese President Xi Jinping for declaring himself exactly that — and that’s scary that Trump thinks it’s great. But Trump could never achieve that kind of political power, because he’s not respected by more than half of his own country, let alone by leaders around the world.

The closest Trump could get to a dictatorship would have to be based in propaganda, like North Korea’s Kim Jong-Un.

That has to be why, during their “summit” over nuclear weapons, which resulted in nothing for the United States but got Kim a reprieve from joint military drills between the US and South Korea, Trump was so excited about all of the imagery and flags and military spectacle — even saluting one of Kim’s generals during the visit.

And when he came home it was all he could talk about: The very nice letter he got from Chairman Kim, the assurances that he’d gotten everything he wanted and more, and of course, the quote that continues to haunt me — and is the backbone of this article’s title.

Anxious to get the President’s take on the “summit” in Singapore, Fox News breathlessly awaited him on the White House lawn, hoping for a choice quote. And they got one.

He’s the head of a country and I mean he is the strong head. Don’t let anyone think anything different. He speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same.”

That’s not how it works here, Donnie. That must be why you want that Fourth of July parade so bad.
