During an interview with conservative douchebag Piers Morgan while in the UK for a state visit, Donald “Draft Dodger” Trump claimed that he is “making up for” not serving in the US military (because he’s a big fat draft dodger with “bone spurs”) by serving as the president and allocating billions of dollars in funds to the Pentagon.

Piers questioned Donald on his reasons for dodging military service during the interview that aired before Trump attended ceremonies in the UK marking the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Morgan pointed out that the president was able to avoid serving in the Vietnam War thanks to a draft deferment for a fictional foot condition that deemed him physically unfit to serve.

Trump went on to discuss the Vietnam War at greater length and told Morgan that he was “never a fan” of the conflict.

“I thought it was a terrible war, I thought it was very far away, and at that time nobody ever heard of the country, today they’re doing very well,” Trump said of the War. “Nobody heard of Vietnam —[with] so many people dying, [people asked] what is happening over there? So I was never a fan — like we’re fighting against Nazi Germany, we’re fighting against Hitler.”

Yes, nobody had ever heard of it except the 2.7 million Americans who served there and the 3 million Vietnamese soldiers and civilians who died.

Morgan went on to question whether Trump would have liked to serve in a different war and Trump responded by saying he would have been “honored” to serve and proceeded to claim that the military funding that has been provided by his administration makes up for the fact that he didn’t.

“I would not have minded that at all, I would have been honored,” Donald stated. “But I think I make up for it right now — look, $700 billion I gave last year, and this year $716 billion. And I think I’m making up for it rapidly because we’re rebuilding our military at a level its never seen before.”

Trump has been heavily criticized for dodging the service — receiving four draft deferments while completing his degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1968 and another after he graduated in the middle of the Vietnam War for “bone spurs” on his feet.

Something tells us his excuses and military funding to “make up” for him dodging the draft will do very little for the folks that actually had to endure that hell.
