Reporters Stunned After Trump Says It’s Not Fair To Cancel His Rally Because Of Hurricane

This is just ridiculous.

If you thought it was unseemly back in 2005, when President George W. Bush spent the day that Hurricane Katrina set to ground celebrating John McCain’s birthday with him, buckle up.

Back then, Katrina ended up becoming the touchstone by which Bush’s entire presidential legacy — other than the Iraq War “quagmire” — was gauged from that point on. The word “Katrina” ended up being synonymous with an absolute cock-up of what should have been something pretty easy to take care of, especially while in command of literally unlimited resources.

As a matter of fact, your humble author stumbled across an old picture from back then of that very thing today:

Unfortunately, that tweet was part of a thread detailing how the current idiot in the White House is about to pull an even more boneheaded move than Bush’s response to Katrina.

Maybe it’s because he’s never experienced a traumatic weather event, or because the last hurricane didn’t do as much damage as he thought it should have, but Donald Trump has decided that even Hurricane Michael, which is currently ravaging the east coast and gathering more force, isn’t even to cancel his completely unnecessary rally tonight in Pennsylvania.

Trump held a rally last night in Iowa that wasn’t even broadcast by any of the cable networks, including Fox, who declared at the outset that they would only show the rally if something important happened — so his decision is literally based on appealing to the roughly 10,000 people who show up to his average event.

Oh, and speaking of quagmires?

He doesn’t want to disappoint himself.
