Pentagon Pushes Back On Trump’s National Emergency, Refuses To Say America Needs Border Wall

It's about time.

Donald Trump has truly messed up his presidency with his ridiculous fight for his racist border wall. The majority of Americans want nothing to do with it, and Congress is not going to grant him the funding, especially not now that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats have more influence.

So far, Trump’s attempts to bully Congress into giving him funding have only resulted in damaging his presidency more as he angered Americans with tactics such as shutting down the government for over a month, screwing even his own supporters out of their pay and life savings. And still, the president has not given up — he’s recently declared a national emergency for a made up “border crisis.” And of course, this is also blowing up in his face.

The Pentagon won’t even back the president up on this. Earlier today, U.S. Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan stated that he had not yet determined if Trump’s racist wall on the U.S.-Mexico border was even necessary, or how much funding the Pentagon would allocate to be spent on it. In speaking with reporters on the way back from his trip to Afghanistan, the Middle East, and Europe, Shanahan said:

We always anticipated that this would create a lot of attention and since moneys potentially could be redirected, you can imagine the concern this generates. Very deliberately we have not made any decisions, we have identified the steps we would take to make those decisions.”

Shanahan stated that he’d be reviewing the plans tomorrow, but it’s pretty clear that he doesn’t think this is a high priority — or else he would have done so already. Trump has completely fabricated this “national emergency.” There is no border crisis and everyone knows it besides Trump’s most gullible, racist, and rabid followers.
