Woman Approaches Senator Graham During Ford Testimony To Tell Him She Was Assaulted; His Response Is Despicable

This is almost too disgusting for words.

Senator Lindsey Graham, offering yet another insight into the minds of Republican Senators this morning, has added to the public shame of his “I’ll listen to the lady” comments from the last few days with a response he gave to a woman who approached him in the Senate hallway today during a break in the Kavanaugh hearing:

In case that didn’t quite hit you properly, let me add a little formatting:

A woman just told Lindsey Graham she was raped. He said, as he headed into an elevator, ‘I’m sorry. Tell the cops.‘”

That’s the kind of cold, cruel response that only a Republican on this Judiciary Committee could give, especially after hearing so much emotional, credible, heart-wrenching testimony from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford this morning.

In case that seems a little too anecdotal to believe, NBC’s Kasie Hunt corroborated the incident:

Already, Graham’s own South Carolina constituents are vowing to vote him out of office when his seat comes up for reelection in 2020, and frankly, we would be surprised if he could hang on to that seat after not just a statement like that — during a pivotal, powerful moment in America — but his behavior in total over the last two years.

Graham seems completely bent on confirming Kavanaugh regardless of the outcome of this hearing, and even issued a threat to Democrats that “if this is the new norm, you better watch out for your nominees.”
