Trump's team can't even make a good argument for him anymore.

Earlier today, Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen gave a bombshell interview to Good Morning America following his sentencing. During the interview, Trump’s former right-hand man who had worked hard to hide many of the president’s crimes over the years exposed the president for many things, including being dishonest about his dealings with Russia. The White House has now responded and has somehow made things even worse for the president.

In an interview with Fox News, White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley whined about the media for giving Cohen so much coverage, despite the fact that America deserves to know what the hell the President of the United States has been doing. Gidley said:

Quite frankly for the media to give credence to a convicted criminal who has lied on multiple occasions and admitted doing just that is laughable. The president has maintained and said many times he has never instructed Michael Cohen to do anything illegal. We stand by that.”

Fox News host Bill Hemmer asked Gidley if Cohen had ever advised Trump that the hush money payments might be illegal, and Gidley responded:

The fact is Michael Cohen is a convicted criminal and the FBI had him dead to rights. What he decided to do is reduce his sentence and cut a deal and betray a former employer.”

If Gidley’s job was to make a sound argument to defend Trump, he failed tremendously — because the White House is obviously still ignoring the fact that a memo by Special Counsel Robert Mueller stated that Trump had also committed a felony. Not only that but no matter how badly Cohen f*cked up, Trump is a far less trustworthy person in this matter. America will believe Cohen over Trump any day of the week, and the president is in for a rude awakening if he thinks this interview will take the heat off him.
