Evidently, Warner Bros. Pictures doesn’t want to be associated with Donald Trump.
Last night, Trump posted a two-minute 2020 campaign video using the soundtrack from the 2012 Warner Bros. film “The Dark Night Rises” (how fitting, huh?). Mere hours after Trump posted the video, it was gone.
A Warner Bros. Company spokesperson said in a statement, “The use of Warner Bros.’ score from ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ in the campaign video was unauthorized. We are working through the appropriate legal channels to have it removed.”
The video was gone by yesterday evening and replaced with a message that said, “This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner” — meaning someone from the company saw it and shut that shit down real quick.
The video started off by showing Washington D.C. along with a number of Democrats such as Trump’s forerunner Barack Obama, his 2016 opponent Hillary Clinton, and others that he believes “lost” to him.
Then, across a black screen, gray lettering popped up reading, “First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they call you racist.”
The music escalated as shots of Trump at rallies and in the White House came across the screen.
Throughout the video, and all set to the Warner Bros. soundtrack, significant moments of Trump’s presidency were shown — his first meeting with Kim Jong Un, Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation as Supreme Court Justice (gag), and the conclusion of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian collusion.
A headline on the video stated that Mueller’s office found no proof of a conspiracy between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign.
The 2-minute montage ended with a message across the screen saying “your vote proved them all wrong” and labeled Trump’s 2020 election as “the great victory.”
Funnily enough, this isn’t the first time Donald has been reprimanded for using music that didn’t belong to him without permission from the owner. Last year, Aerosmith frontrunner Steven Tyler sent Trump a letter of cease-and-desist after he used his song “Livin’ On The Edge” at a rally in West Virginia.
In the letter, obtained by USA Today, it was stated: “Mr. Trump is creating the false impression that our client has given his consent for the use of his music, and even that he endorses the presidency of Mr. Trump.”
Long story short: Stop using people’s shit, Trump. No one wants to be associated with you. And no one wants their hard work attached to your cruel campaign.
