Donald Trump has become well known for a lot of things (most of them are negative), and being self-aware is not one of them. This is exactly why Trump rarely ever understands the irony in his statements or why his words always somehow seem to come back to bite him in the a*s or incriminate him further, even when he’s trying to defend himself. One of the most common places for Trump’s idiocy to show up is on Twitter, as the president constantly tweets things that are damaging to no one but himself.
Yesterday, Trump held a fundraiser and rally in Pennsylvania while Category 4 storm Hurricane Michael tore through Florida, leaving several dead and parts of the state in ruins. Trump was being heavily criticized for his plans to rally while this was going on, but Trump decided to party with his fan base anyway. Before the event, Trump said:
I cannot disappoint the thousands of people that are there ― and the thousands that are going.”
This is infuriating — not just because he’s abandoning his constituents in Florida for a few white supremacists, but because just a few years ago in 2012, Trump criticized Obama for campaigning two weeks after Hurricane Sandy. Trump tweeted:
Yesterday Obama campaigned with JayZ & Springsteen while Hurricane Sandy victims across NY & NJ are still decimated by Sandy. Wrong!”

Obama, of course, was sane enough to suspend his campaign during the storm, only resuming campaigning until days later. The same cannot be said for Trump. Let’s just say that Trump’s actions made America furious with the insensitive, clueless POTUS and they trashed him on Twitter:
I guess it’s cool tho if you’re in Erie, Pennsylvania, during a Florida hurricane because there are no celebrities there (aka, won’t attend)? https://t.co/jwhn7NqXCt

Just a reminder that Cadet Bonespur is babbling to a room full of white people in the midst of a hurricane to assuage his malignant narcissism. https://t.co/Ryc7BooHXh

Hurricane Michael hits FL panhandle as most catastrophic storm there in history…
…but Trump goes ahead with campaign rally in PA because he doesn’t want to disappoint his base.
