They completely betrayed him.

Donald Trump is really going to regret all the time he spent screwing over the U.S. intelligence community, repeatedly taking the side of Russia over his own officials. Now, these senior officials are speaking up and it is not looking good for the backstabbing POTUS.

After two years of silence, the president’s senior intelligence officials are going public — and warning Americans about the major threat the president poses to the country. In statements to Time magazine, multiple officials warned that Trump is putting U.S. security in grave danger as he completely disregards intelligence assessments. In doing so, these officials spoke about Trump’s “willful ignorance” during briefings. Time magazine wrote:

What is most troubling, say these officials and others in government and on Capitol Hill who have been briefed on the episodes, are Trump’s angry reactions when he is given information that contradicts positions he has taken or beliefs he holds. Two intelligence officers even reported that they have been warned to avoid giving the President intelligence assessments that contradict stances he has taken in public.”

Trump’s behavior has continuously baffled his team as the president barely takes anything seriously. One official reported that during a briefing on a critical U.S. airbase in the Indian Ocean, Trump actually asked his officials if the beaches were good and how friendly the people were. This official said everyone was baffled:

Some of us wondered if he was thinking about our alliance with the Brits and the security issues in an important area where the Chinese have been increasingly active, or whether he was thinking like a real estate developer.”

In another instance, Trump stated that Nepal and Bhutan belonged to India. Time outlined officials’ constantly worry that Trump’s incompetence and inexperience will backfire and cause massive issues:

Two briefers worry that a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping could produce a trade agreement that the President can trumpet but that fails to address China’s espionage, its theft of intellectual property that ranges from circuit boards to soybean hybrids, its military buildup, and its geopolitical ambition.”

Three other officials worry about what one of them calls ‘precipitous troop withdrawals’ from Syria and Afghanistan and a peace deal with the Taliban that in time would leave the extremist Islamic group back in charge and wipe out the gains made in education, women’s rights and governance since the U.S. invaded the country more than 17 years ago.”

To have Trump’s own officials blowing the whistle on him is a pretty big deal, and no one will argue that America doesn’t deserve this warning.
