Trump’s Odds For Impeachment Just Shifted, Americans Hold Their Breath

It's not looking good for Donald J. Trump.

Other than his own actual Las Vegas and Atlantic City resorts, which ended up being a wager on whether or not an actual casino could lose money (spoiler: they can if they say Trump on the side), the President isn’t much of a gambling man. His investments are mostly safe, he stays on the safe side of his base, and the only thing keeping him from unleashing a racist and sexist tirade the likes of which the world has never seen on Twitter is that it wouldn’t be politically safe for him to do so.

But plenty of people do take risks, even when they actually involve Donald Trump. The niche market for it may be small, but there are oddsmakers even on the presidency itself. And those odds, as of today, are going up when it comes to the likelihood that Trump will be impeached. In fact, there’s even been an old article floating around from August of 2017 on social media today that cites those odds, although from last year.

But PaddyPower, a UK-based online betting site and oddsmaker for Europe, now has the odds at two-to-one, down from four-to-one. I saw that line in a tweet from one of my favorite social media posters, “Muckmakerâ„¢,” a Montana Democrat with a pretty large following on Twitter:

I don’t do much more than the occasional slot machine, so I had to check it for myself, and sure enough, the site he’s talking about is holding that line as of today:

But it’s the second part of that tweet that really interested me. What would the PaddyPower odds of his resignation be if the House actually introduced articles of impeachment, then prepared to vote on them?

My guess is, Muckmakerâ„¢ is right — Donald Trump certainly doesn’t want to be an impeached President, and he’ll likely resign — probably while calling the presidency a waste of his time, and calling Americans ungrateful for his “service” to the country.

There will be a lot of celebrating on that day, though — you can bet even money on that.
