Ivana Trump, Donald Trump’s first wife, knows far more about the president and his children than many of us ever will, and she’s not afraid to spill the beans. As the mother of Ivanka, Don Jr. and Eric, Ivana is in tune with her children and knows how they are handling their father’s marriages after her and how their family has taken many shapes over time.
While there has been a lot of news about the closeness of Trump’s relationship with his daughter Ivanka, there hasn’t been much news about what Melania’s relationship with Trump’s kids are like. But now thanks to the president’s ex-wife, we know — Ivana has stated that Ivanka actually likes Melania, Trump’s third wife — and there’s very strange reasoning behind this knowledge.
Ivana stated that Ivanka must like Melania “fine” because Ivanka hasn’t begged her to break Melania and Trump up the way she did when her father was married to Marla Maples. It looks like Ivanka was far too enmeshed in her father’s personal business even before his presidency! Ivana said in an interview with The Atlantic:
She likes her [Melania] fine, because she didn’t cause me to break up the marriage like the other one — I don’t even want to pronounce her name.”
Another source close to Ivanka confirmed this, stating that Melania and Trump’s first daughter both have a “desire to be mutually respectful.” However, their relationship isn’t quite “affectionate.”
Stephanie Grisham, Melania’s spokeswoman, tried to paint things in a more warm might stating that Ivanka and Melania have “always shared a close relationship and still do today.” Judging by their rare appearances together in public and body language toward each other, we’re more likely to conclude that these two women tolerate each other because they have to.
