When the job of White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders got too difficult and she could not longer handle the insanity and criticism of having to constantly defend her boss in press briefings several times per week, Sanders responded by scaling WAY back and hiding away from the public. Sanders’ once daily press briefings have now practically turned into monthly events, as Sanders tries to distance herself from the Trump administration. From the looks of what happened today at Fox News, Sanders may also scale back interviews.
The Trump administration used to favor Fox News as it was the only network that would accept the administration’s lies and refuse to fact check them. But recently, Fox News hosts have actually been doing their jobs. Recently, Fox News host Chris Wallace absolutely obliterated Sanders when she came on his show to lie about Trump’s border wall — and it pretty much broke whatever was left of her spirit.
During the interview, Sanders fear-mongered for Trump and tried to claim that “roughly 4,000 known or suspected terrorist come into our country illegally and we know that our most vulnerable point of entry is at our southern border.”
Right away, Wallace interrupted her to provide some facts:
Wait, wait, wait. I know this statistic. I didn’t know you were going to use it, but I studied up on this. Do you know where those 4,000 people — where they are captured? Airports!”
Sanders could only respond, “Not always!” but Wallace continued to report the truth, which blew the Trump administration’s talking points up:
The State Department says there hasn’t been any terrorists that they’ve found coming across the southern border.”
Sanders continued to try and fight for the president’s border wall with some pathetic statements such as, “But the one thing that you’re forgetting is the most vulnerable point of entry that we have is the southern border.”
Wallace, growing impatient, scolded her:
But they’re not coming across the southern border, Sarah!”
Wallace also asked Sarah about Trump’s claim that he could build a wall without the authorization from Congress. He said:
How serious is he about that? Has the White House drafted an emergency border — a resolution that he could announce tomorrow we are declaring a national emergency, we are going to build a wall? Has he set a deadline for when his going to end talks and simply say I’m going to go off on my own and do it?”
At this point, Sanders is whining, “That’s a lot of questions.”
Wallace couldn’t believe his ears:
Three. It’s all the same question. How serious is he? Is he really prepared go off on his own and use money that was authorized for military construction and building wall instead?”
Sanders was at a loss and gave yet another weak response:
The president is prepared to do what it takes to protect our borders, protect the people of this country.”
The entire interview reveals Sanders in panic mode as she is put in the hot seat by a network she least expected it from. You can watch the brilliant interview below:
