Donald Trump literally utilizes every single opportunity he has to mock and berate his 2020 Democratic competitor. His Twitter account is full of hateful remarks, aides in the White House claim that he uses up nearly all of his free time trying to think up new, “clever” nicknames for his opponents, and evidently, he’ll even exploit a taxpayer-funded trip to promote himself and bash the competition — which is precisely what he shamelessly did.
While Trump was speaking at a liquified natural gas facility near Lake Charles, LA he grabbed at the chance to single out and mock the 2020 Democratic candidates that he seems to be most concerned about — former Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Bernie Sanders, former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, South Bend, IN Mayor Pete Buttigieg, and Senator Elizabeth Warren.
“Boy, you got some beauties there. Three hundred fifty million people and that’s the best we can do. I don’t think so,” the president snidely remarked. “Even as Democrats, I could pick better than that.”
Traditionally, sitting presidents don’t harp on about campaign business and partisan politics at official White House events that have been paid for with public funds. But when has Donald Trump ever followed the rules?
Trump was praising his economy during the speech when he launched into attacks against his opponents saying, “You dream about competition like that.”
Donald mocked Pete Buttigieg’s name by sounding it out, saying “Boot-edge-edge” and then turned his ire to Democratic hopeful Beto O’Rourke stating, “Beto’s falling fast. What the hell happened? Remember about four weeks ago he said, ‘I was made for this.’ He was made for it. He was made to fall like a rock,”
Trump then started in on Senator Bernie Sanders, calling him “crazy” but stating that he still has the upper hand on former VP Joe Biden.
“I don’t know what the hell happened to Biden. What happened to him? I’m looking, I said, ‘That doesn’t look like the guy I knew,” he stated. Adding, “Bernie’s crazy. But Bernie’s got a lot more energy than Biden, so you never know.”
He gave Bernie a personal dig as well, quipping, “Bernie’s got a lot of energy but it’s energy to get rid of your jobs.”
As far as Senator Elizabeth Warren goes, evidently Trump isn’t concerned about her. Stating that his 2020 opponent would be “one of those people,” referencing Biden and Sanders. And of course he used the derogatory nickname “Pocahontas” to reference Warren, saying she “is probably out.”
There’s your tax dollars, folks. Right there. Depressing, isn’t it?
