Donald Trump is continuing to make his very bad Labor Day even worse. Piling on to what has already been a terrible morning and afternoon, the president has just made the fatal mistake of attacking one of America’s top labor leaders, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. This comes after Trump lied about how great American workers were now that he was POTUS, and after he mysteriously sent the press corps home with no explanation earlier today.
Trump was bitter because Trumka had gone on Fox News to educate Americans about how Trump had hurt American workers rather than help them. Despite unemployment being down, Trumka stated that wages were also lower while gas prices were higher. Trumka said, “Overall, workers aren’t doing as well.” The labor leader also slammed Trump for putting workers at risk for doing away with many health and safety regulations that were supposed to protect them.
In reaction to being critiqued, Trump flew off the handle and attacked Trumka:
Richard Trumka, the head of the AFL-CIO, represented his union poorly on television this weekend. Some of the things he said were so against the working men and women of our country, and the success of the U.S. itself, that it is easy to see why unions are doing so poorly. A Dem!”

Trump immediately learned that he should have kept his mouth shut. Not only did he misspell his first tweet, but the president also got blasted by droves of Twitter users.
Took 5hours to correct “againt” to “against” 😂

Americans hit back at Trump, putting him back in his place and reminding him just why 60 percent of Americans disapprove of him:
Unions are as American as they can get! Stop attacking them on Labor Day!

AT&T’s CEO praised @realDonaldTrump corporate tax cuts, promising to create 7,000 jobs with the savings. Instead, the company is laying off 7,000 employees, according to union representatives. Call centers are being moved outside the US. #LaborDay https://t.co/R9s9grJ1kE

All those Labor Day tweets this morning *almost* made me forget how you’re by far the worst, most embarrassing President this country has ever had.
Almost.

Friendly reminder that Republicans have voted 9 times in favor of raising their own salary, and in that same time they’ve also voted 14 times against raising the minimum wage. #LaborDay

People like you are the reason why unions had to be created in the first place.

Labor Day 2018 will be a day Trump wishes he could forget.
