While the FBI investigation of Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh continues to create mayhem in the Republican Party, the president has continued to remind America that he doesn’t give a sh*t about women or survivors of sexual assault.
Trump stunned several days ago when he called Kavanaugh accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford “credible”, only to turn around and bash her and the rest of Kavanaugh’s accusers. And he hasn’t stopped. Trump has been trashing Ford and her fellow accusers relentlessly, saying that he is now more afraid for young men than women whose lives have been impacted and are living with the aftermath, usually with post-traumatic stress disorder and other debilitating conditions.
Don’t expect this president to understand trauma or how PTSD works. Trump is unsympathetic across the board when it comes to things that brave people have suffered through. Just take a look at the disgusting comments Trump made at a conference for U.S. military veterans two years ago — proving that Trump has no sensitivity (or self-awareness), Trump actually mocked veterans who suffered from PTSD when they returned from war. He suggested that they were not “strong” enough to “handle it.” Trump said:
When you talk about the mental health problems, when people come back from war and combat, and they see things that maybe a lot of the folks in this room have seen many times over — and you’re strong and you can handle it — but a lot of people can’t handle it. And they see horror stories. They see events that you couldn’t see in a movie; nobody would believe it.”
Let’s not forget that this is a man who lied about having “bone spurs” so he could dodge the draft — and yet he has the nerve to suggest that the people who actually fought in the war aren’t “strong?”

Trump’s comments about PTSD sufferers were absolutely disgusting back then, and they are even more revolting now because it’s clear that he hasn’t bothered to educate himself. Trump is a coward who has lived in a bubble of privilege his entire life. He doesn’t know a thing about being strong, and every time he mocks the “weaknesses” of others he just makes himself look like an idiot.
