Donald Trump showed just how vile of a person he was by canceling his visit to a World War I Memorial in France just because it was raining. People all over the world were absolutely disgusted with the president’s disrespect of the courageous men and women who served in the military, and many didn’t hesitate to speak out and condemn Trump.
In an interview with MSNBC, retired Navy Admiral James Stavridis let Trump have it — as well as the entire administration, stating that this was partially due to the White House’s inability to function correctly and find alternatives. MSNBC’s Keir Simmons asked Stavridis:
Admiral, the last time I checked the history books, the allies did not choose to stop fighting on days when there was bad weather.”
Stavridis called Trump ditching the memorial an “unforced error.” He said:
Let’s face it, there is always a backup plan. I’ve planned dozens of these high-level trips…There was certainly a way he could have gotten there. He should have done so. The other leaders made it, the optics are bad here.”
Stavridis also took the opportunity to point out some of Trump’s other failures, reminding everyone that the president has yet to visit American troops that are fighting abroad. He said:
Frankly, he has yet to visit a war zone as president of the United States, he hasn’t gone to Afghanistan to visit our troops. I think optics — bad on this one. I wish he made that trip.”
You can watch Stravridis rip Trump to shreds below:
Trump is a sorry excuse for a leader — if he can even be called that. I’m sure that if it had been one of his deranged rallies or speeches with his unhinged fanbase, the president would have shown up rain or shine. Once again, Trump ruins a holiday weekend.
