Donald Trump’s full interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd aired this morning and quite frankly the whole damn thing was a mess. For starters, the president got started on the results of the 2020 presidential election and claimed that despite his near-constant rhetoric otherwise, he would accept the results and his regular statements about running for a third term are merely jokes meant to rile the media up.
“I only joke,” Trump said regarding his third term threats. “I joke and I say, ‘Watch! I will drive Chuck Todd crazy.'”
“You will accept the results?” Todd confirmed.
“One hundred percent. Sure,” Donald replied.
“Whatever happens in 2020. You lose, you’ll be like, ‘You’re not going to like it,’ but you’ll walk out?” Todd asked yet again. Because, well, no one believes his lying behind.
“In fact, I said in a speech recently, ‘Watch, we’ll drive the media crazy. Let’s go for a third term and then a fourth.’ And some of the media said, ‘He’s going to do it,'” Trump stated.
Donald’s persistent talks of extended presidential terms have left the American public as well as the likes of Bill Maher and Michael Cohen extremely concerned that he will just downright refuse to leave the White House should he lose the 2020 election.
Trump has even gone so far as to muse on Chinese President Xi Jinping saying, “He’s now president for life. And look, he was able to do that. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot someday.”
Not to mention, just this past April he “joked” that he would be in office “at least for 10 or 14 years.”
But the trainwreck that was this interview didn’t stop there. Todd questioned Donald about his presidential library and Trump stated that he’s considering putting it in Florida, perhaps even at one of his own properties — which could, of course, lead to him making even more cash off the American taxpayers even after he leaves the presidency.
Seems pretty unethical. But after this dumpster fire of a presidency, nothing even surprises us anymore.
