Trump Just Decided To Go Against The Advice Of His Lawyers, Giuliani In A Panic Over Mueller

No one can stop the president from putting himself behind bars.

It’s not a fun time to be working for Donald Trump. At this point, it’s probably the most stressful, frustrating, and dreaded job in the country as the president makes it impossible for his team to save him and clean up his messes.

Earlier today, the New York Times reported that Trump has gone far further than just posting incriminating tweets about himself on Twitter. The president has actually asked his legal team to negotiate a meeting between himself and Special Counsel Robert Mueller even though his lawyers have advised against it. It’s like Trump is begging to go to jail, especially after several days of tweeting furiously about Michael Cohen, Paul Manafort, the Russia investigation, and attacking Mueller on top of it. The New York Times reported:

President Trump pushed his lawyers in recent days to try once again to reach an agreement with the special counsel’s office about him sitting for an interview, flouting their advice that he should not answer investigators’ questions, three people briefed on the matter said on Wednesday.

Mr. Trump has told advisers he is eager to meet with investigators to clear himself of wrongdoing, the people said. In effect, he believes he can convince the investigators for the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, of his belief that their own inquiry is a ‘witch hunt.'”

Yikes. Giuliani has his hands full. He had promised to shut down Mueller’s probe, but hasn’t had any luck. Now that his unhinged client wants to speak to Mueller himself, Giuliani must be sweating bullets. When speaking to reporters earlier in the day, he said:

We’re in the process of responding to their proposal.”

Giuliani has previously tried to advise against the president dealing with Mueller directly, stating that the Special Counsel was setting up a “perjury trap” for the POTUS. Well, now it looks like Trump is falling right in line.
