Donald Trump may actually be starting to face the truth about the midterm elections, but he’s not taking any personal responsibility for it.
To everyone else, it couldn’t be more clear that the unhinged POTUS has pretty much killed all hope for a party that was already struggling after America fell in love with former President Barack Obama. Trump’s terrible performance has even caused several Republicans — many of them Trump voters — to abandon the GOP. And yet Trump is pretending like the Republican Party is failing due to some magical phenomenon, instead of admitting that he’s drastically reduced their chances for keeping the majority.
At a rally last night in Las Vegas, Trump bragged about his election, pretending as though his presidency has actually been good for the country as he slammed the “fake news media” and his critics. Trump blabbered on:
You remember when we had that great, great election, almost two years ago, can you believe?”
Trump also said there were “tears from the fake news media when it was obvious that we were going to win.”
Look at them, they’re still crying. And let them cry. They don’t know what the hell happened, but it happened, and that’s why we are setting all-time records, that’s why we are doing so well, but we have to get out for the midterms.”
However, Trump’s little victory lap took a somber turn, as the president recognized how desperate and dire the situation is for the GOP in the November elections. Trump begged his audience:
You got to vote. We need more Republicans. When they say we have a majority, it is like this: If somebody has a cold, we don’t have a majority that day. It is like, we have to have more Republicans in office. We will get everything we want so fast.”
