Donald Trump is NOT a fan of Broadway shows, ever since the cast of Hamilton completely destroyed his Vice President, Mike Pence, during a show in 2016. Since then the president has only gotten more weary of Broadway, especially after the entire audience and cast of the “Hello, Dolly!” production fawned over Hillary Clinton. Trump whines about how the theatre isn’t a “safe space” because Broadway hates him – and he’s just been dealt another blow.
Last night during the Broadway show “Frozen,” an actor spotted a massive Trump banner in the audience during the curtain call and could not hold himself back. Timothy R. Hughes, who plays Pabbie leader of the Hidden Folk, promptly ripped the banner out of the Trump supporter’s hands and threw it onto the stage – and the audience went wild.
Hughes had no regrets about what he’d done. In a post on Instagram showing footage from his outburst, the actor ripped the Trump-loving audience member apart for trying to ruin a show about love and acceptance with the disgusting political agenda of Trump. Hughes wrote:
What does it say about our country and politics when a man at the show tonight felt the need to protest Disney’s Frozen on Broadway with a pro-Trump flag?? How frightening is it that our show’s messages of love, acceptance, and diversity have become the opposition to supporting Trump?
The curtain call is a thank you between actors and audience, a final connection to end a shared experience.
I will not apologize for how I responded to the disrespectful man trying to interrupt this moment with a pathetic political platform. Not at our show! Not in front of my beautiful, diverse, talented cast at @frozenbroadway. I appreciate everyone’s support.”
